| Fabienne Arietti |
| |
|
Fabienne Arietti was born in Marseille (France) in 1956 . She works and lives in Paris .
 |
| |
| About the Artist |
Fabienne Arietti shows an amazing ability to use a painterly technique so uncommon today, which gives an incomparable density to the image . A technique so rigorous, demanding an infinite patience for each of the hundred and fifty layers of oil varnish . With this approach, which one may find obsolete, the artist recreates profound and timeless atmospheres for her Babel-like architectures, a hymn to slowness, to some passage of time to persistence and life . Those layers of oil, overlapped according to their coloured intensity are, like the rings of a tree, like the wrinkles on a face, the remains, the proofs, a place for life .
Modern still life, exotic animals , portraits, urban architectures.
The diversity of the subjects however does not mask the coherence of the work where the inspiration is enracined in a close past .
The artist works on monumental formats allowing to express herself by the width and the dynamics of the gesture . Working on the ground, she keeps with her painting an intense relationship almost physical. It is not only the subject that she treats but also the act to paint and the genesis of the painting that impassions her. Work and artist make one the time of creation. Time of fight against the matter, duel whose painting is the mediation. The artist fights against herself and her perpetual insatisfaction feeds the creativity of her work .
Fabienne Arietti is acurately aware of this inner struggle which takes the painting has witness.
In the secrecy of her studio, the artist thinks that nobody can see how work is done.
She works with obstinacy, constancy and perseverance.
Each painting is a victory torn off to uncertainty.
