| About the Artist |
“POLA-ART is the result of a long process of experimenting with manipulation of Polaroid photographs, images that have almost a painterly quality whilst keeping their intrinsic photographic essence. Bringing together photography and fine art in way that demonstrates the approximation between these two techniques. The result is a collection of images rich in colours, textures and volumes with their own distinctive personality and style. A different type of photographic art which aims to capture the essence of each scene photographed, discovering a new image within the image.”
Used technique: photographies Polaroid manipulated manually during the process of developing. This technique known as " Manipulation of Polaroid Time Zero SX70 film "consists of the alteration and deformation of the gel that takes inside the film, by means of local pressure using an instrument of rounded top; in this case punches of metacrilato of own manufacture. Only it is possible to realize the manipulation up to the moment of the solidification of the gel, this period, depending on the conditions and the film, can range between 10 min. and half an hour approximately. Then, scanning the images route comes near to the amplifications processes of digital photography.
The work is conceived under the idea of “only piece” and it consists of two parts: first, the original Polaroid on which the manipulation has been realized; and the second part of the work is the photographic amplification of the Polaroid.
