I was born in Boston Massachusetts grew up on the waterfront in my family’s Chandlery business. Trained in engineering and architecture, then in yacht design working professionally with some of the most famous designers of fine yachts in America. |

I have lived and worked in New England and on the Atlantic Ocean most of my life and spent considerable time at sea. I have witnessed a full spectrum of it's beauty and overwhelming force. So this is the focus of my work, the interaction of the sea and man. Art should generate emotion and I hope my art conveys the heart pounding drama of wind-taut sails and flying boats. |

Genesis of the Cup

| This copper plate etching is the second and one of the two largest in my series on the yachts of the America’s Cup. The collage is based on the power and grace of “America” and “Reliance”. America was the winner of the "One Hundred Sovereign Cup" for the around the Isle of Wight, UK race in 1851 to establish a new race open to all yacht clubs of the world as “The America’s Cup”. As the sport grew so did the excitement and yachts. The Yacht “Reliance” was the largest America’s Cup defender ever built.

| I have no formal art training, which I have come to consider as an asset. Sketching has always come natural so renderings of architecture, ships and yachts was part of my profession as a designer and engineer for over 30 years. In 1980 I was invited to a friend’s studio to study the art of intaglio printing working with copper and zinc plates and created my first series depicting the genesis of the Americas Cup yacht racing. Over the past many years I have worked on perfecting the art of the print and remarque some with a definitive style. Member of the American Society of Marine Artist (ASMA), The Newport Art Museum, The Artists Guild. |
