| Painting of face of Chinese Opera Singer made up. Chinese Opera tradition is 200 years old. Only men were allowed to perform, both male and female roles, Only until recently did women perform in the opera both male and female parts. Today a super star must be an excellent dancer, excellent in acrobatics and know Kung Fu.
I have learned about Chinese Opera from watching it on cable tv direct from China. My inspiration for my Chinese Opera paintings is from seeing Chinese Opera on tv- the costumes are exquisite and the make-up and scenic design are outstanding.
