| About the Artist |
Jacek is fascinated by the underwater world: the strange, fragile life forms that live there and the huge forces of tide and current that surge around them. He has explored this world via his studies in marine biology and during his early professional life as a Marine Biologist in Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Australia. His practice offers a dynamic, personal perspective on this world, and builds on the abstract Modernist traditions and international sculpture of the past 80 years – Miro, Kandinsky, Frankenthaler, Rothko, Keifer, Moore, Serra, Goldsworthy, Caro, Kapoor, Twombly, Gehry, Hadid.
Jacek's sculptures are made in steel and range from large scale, outdoor pieces to smaller, intimate works – a play between the small and large scale work. They embody movement and anticipation, and often a sense of unfolding or unwrapping. |
