| About the Artist |
My work reflects a perspective regarding architecture, decoration and memory. My mixed media sculptures are minimal and geometric. They reveal their own architectural planning, and the surfaces vary from simple worn patterns to multi painted layers. This technique emphasizes and decorates the rough surface. Each subsequent layer asserts the passage of time and our ability to bury and recover memories. Recently, I have been thinking about genetic memory. This concept builds upon the idea that our personal identity is also formed by our ancestor's surroundings. I traveled to Germany to explore the locations that influenced and informed his own heritage. During my time there, I researched the utilization of architecture and ornamental design in both wallpaper and fabric. The discoveries I made in Germany have been incorporated into my latest body of work. |
