About the Artist

Jason's work incorporates many aspects of culture but is centered around our society's struggle to embrace Capitalism, while at the same time, leaving room for human emotion and physical communication.

Double Positive
1992 and 1993 Pinnacle Baseball Cards with graffic overlay made with tape and acrylic paint. The original piece has been multiplied using Photoshop to create a largescale image that can be printed in variable dimensions.

Gollum

2004
8'' x 6''

Collage using canned tuna packaging and India Ink. This piece is part of series of collage faces that I created while studying art and economics at the University of Barcelona. It was shown in a group show at Diagonal Mar Commercial Center in the summer of 2004.

Elliott

2006
18" x 14"

Elliott
Made from an original drawing of a mad riding the subway in New York. The man was on his way to work, and like me, his story and emotions could be ascertained from his dress, posture, and expression. In the morning, the faces of subway riders are relaxed, and their eyes have not fully begun to function. This piece is made with a cabinet door, black tape and guache.

Panda Genes

2006
36" x 24"

Panda Genes
This piece bridges two different series' of work I am still in the process of creating. It merges repetitive lines and swirling overlay graffics, while also including collaged images.

Japan Bubble City

2005
Variable

Japan Bubble City
An inverted image of an hand-drawn city-scape, this piece can be printed to fit the order. It references the Asian Pop Art movement of the 90's - also highlighted in exhibits such as "Superflat." Themes such as ultra-capitalism, the objectification of human emotion and corruption of youth are central to this movement. This piece focuses primarilly on urbanization and bubble-gum pop.

Grandma

2004
10"x 6"

Part of a series of pieces I created while studying economics and art in Barcelona. This along with 8 others, was exhibited in a group show at Diagonal Mar Commercial Center.

Martin

2005
4" x 6"

Martin
Part of series of journal drawings I did on the MTA in New York. I gave the characters names that I thought fit their personas. This piece is still in my journal and can be purchased as a print.

Education and biography
Jason holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University and has studied Drawing and Multi-Media art at the School of the MFA Boston and the University of Barcelona. He is pursuing a Master's degree in Interactive Media at NYU's ITP Program.

Future shows
ITP Winter Show at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU
