| About the Artist |
JIM BAKER: Is in the great tradition of American regional art, capturing the color, light, and motion of the Southwest in his vivid human and animal figures. After a succesful career as art director of a television studio in Amarillo, Texas, during which time he served on the advisory committee of commercial art and advertising technology for Texas State Technical Institute, Baker moved to Oklahoma, where he has been capturing the unique visual character of the West and its people in paintings with rich textural surfaces and dynamic, spontaneous brushwork. The winner of over 33 first prizes and best-of-show awards, his work has been presented in numerous museums and art centers and featured on the cover of a national magazine. |
