| About the Artist |
I make hand made and embellished traditional quilts.
I like the fact that quilts carry with them a connection to the important rites of life passage that occur in bed. |

Emily Carr Visited Me
2005 144 w by 320 h ( cm) |
|
I have appropriated Emily Carr’s emotional painting, “Scorned as Timber, Beloved by the Sky” into this quilt. Not only am I inspired by her artwork, I am also inspired by her struggle as a woman artist in Canada. She actually stopped painting for 13 years between 1914 and 1927.
At the age of 56 she began to travel into the BC forest again so that she could paint from life. The beautiful paintings made during her crone years are considered to be her most powerful. Emily Carr is one of my muses.
