| About the Artist |
Water is considered the most important resource for every living thing to maintain its life, as it needs ample amounts of water to be physically fit and vital. Water also provides an excellent condition for a biological organism to restore itself. Medically, cells under the skin proliferate actively when the injured area of skin is moist. In my work, moisturizing is a key element and it has been configured sculpturally through the material ‘Vaseline’, which I regard as symbolical catalyst to represent the protective and healing faculty of moisturizing, although it does not contain water in itself. I have used Vaseline in a number of different ways: I used it to make armor for the weak part of body such as the head, hand and chest, in order to protect and moisturize them; I also filled up cracks and holes in the wall of old buildings, caused by artificial or natural disasters, with Vaseline as a remedy. |
