My Mona Lisa (: Ma Joconde)

2009
Digital Painting

A composite digital painting attempting to recapture and redesign the Mona lisa's enigmatic smile. The new face for this old greek marble statue is from the 1930' and the background landscape is of a manipulated preraphaelite painting of Pegwell Bay in Kent(england). Sculpture, oil paint Photography mingle together.Different Media are united accross and despite time. This figure is a bit of a Frankinstein of Art:a creature made from different merged artistic forms and repatched with others, creating a strange almost eerie facinating look to a nameless face. This mY Mona Lisa and I cant stop staring at her.... can you?

Great expectations

2009
Digital Painting printed on glass

Part of the 'Stained glass window'fine Art series, depicting the birth of Christ( partly from a miniscule stained window in the cloister at Canterbury Cathedral, England)wedged into Klimt's pregnant Hope, surounded by a 'patchwork' of colourfull photography, prints, paintings and architectural details carefully arranged into a mosaic of colours.

Crucifix in Lincoln cathedral

2009
Photography/digital painting
105 X141

A slightly less surreal(or maybe more surreal?)background for Dali's crucifix hanging in mid air in Lincoln Cathedral. The reflexions of light on the ground are all part of the original photograph which had to be taken at a precise time of day .The ceiling however, has been 'redesigned'into clear coloured glass by painting in the intersections of the arcs with parts of various paintings, prints, sculpture and photography taken from my own designs and everywhere else, creating a mosaic of colourfull light 'incrusted 'in the ceilings architechture. The ceiling has become a stained glass window making it look like the light and hues of the world are shining through in a kaleidoscope of acidulated colours. Call me a Megalomaniac but, I would love to recreate this on location as an Art exhibit. It would be my biggest and most extravagant so far!

The final Supper

2009
Digital painting printed on ceramic
105 X 141

Part of the Stained Glass Window Collection.

Contre-Tete (Head to Head)

2005
SCULPTURE
13 X 35 cm

Sculpture representing two Jealous Concubines after a disagreement over their husband's 'infidelity'.

Mate: Hunter dreaming of his Prey

2008
SCULPTURE/MOBILE in wood and perspex

Hanging sculpture of an african hunter dreaming of his prey. The Hunter's face (carved and painted wood) is represented sleeping and for this reason fixed position against a white-backed foam board. The Animals( in printed, semi-transparent perspex cut outs) are alive, in motion and unaware of the hunter's plans. they are hanging on nylon thread in front and above the mans face in the form of a mobile.

Serpent in wheatfield

2007
Digital painting

A homage to V.Van Gogh and G. Klimt. This is how I like to see the paintings. Part of the LEZZARTS collection

Danse Croisée dans les nuages

2007
Giclee Print

A homage to A.Renoir and J. Vettriano. The timeless elegance of ballroom dancers. Everytime I looked at either painting I kept seeing the other, so I had to put them together, in the clouds, because where else could they meet?: On Vettriano's unlikely beech: NO, in Renoir's predictable ballroom foyer? Certainly NOT. In my Clouds ? YES: The dancers needed to meet in this ethereal decor to allow them to exist outside of the respective worlds they were created in.The clouds are made from the ruched fabric of the front ladie's dress(making a wonderful and discrete rustling noise as the dancers shuffle around this airy decor. There is no need for music here. Part of my LEZZARTS collection

Les Parapluies a la Page

2007
DIGITAL PAINTING

A homage to A. Renoir and J.Vettriano's paintings. Part of the Lezzarts collection.

Les Boyaux du cloitre (Canterbury Carthedral)

2009
MIXED MEDIA

A digital painting of the cloister's ceiling in Canterbury cathedral(Kent, ENGLAND).I love this peaceful place. Ive called this painting: 'The Cloister's Guts. Its architectural design has something of human anatomy. The arches compare to a ribcage(that of Christs: always prominent in all representations of him on the cross)and a center broken sternum(the misery of Christ)The Guts are the coloured intersections that I have coloured in with a variety of coloured patterns representing nature, scenes, art etc.

CHURCHES: A church within a church

MJ SUPERSTAR: Michael Jackson RIP

1958-2009
Digital Painting

This painting represents the life of Micheal Jackson and his relationship with the Paparazzi: They created him, crucified him and now,all too soon, are trying to resurrect him.The Paparazzi gathered at the foot of the crucifixee, are seen here looking up and taking pictures in a frenzy. The flashes of the cameras move upwards into the sky and become become glowing stars in the night sky symbolising eternity. Michael Jackson showed excellence , creative intellignce and human qualities in his Art and quest for perfection.
