A 330 nautical Mile 10-day sailing route from the Ionian Sea to the Saronic Gulf was documented by photographing the sea on each waypoint on the route (map provided). The coordinates, temperature, sea depth, time, weather conditions, wind direction and speed, Due True direction and nautical Miles from each waypoint were then recorded on each photograph. In total 44 waypoint photographs were taken on board with a medium format 6x6 film printed on transparent plexiglass. |
Tetralogy
2005-7 installation |
|
Four interconnected short documentary films on Cyprus, consisting of “Should I stay or should I go now?” “Marinated Crushed Olives”, “Electricity” and “Rabbits have no memory”. The tetralogy oscillates between narrative politics, raw archive documentary and the experimental with purposeful ‘home-made’ video and montage effect.
After watching tourist clips advertising holidaying in Cyprus, giving a glossy cliché of ‘the island of love’…, the four films were a reaction to this, an alternative artist’s version of those kinds of adverts which could be shown say on Euronews or CNN and give information about the island but from a subjective point of view, a “hand crafted souvenir” of my country.
