| About the Artist |
The stuff of life – water, light and human relationships inspire my work. Life experience has naturally feeds into the work. It is vibrant and colourful and energetic
Working in various media, always looking “to capture spirit and light”, Lisa has made exhibited and sold work in pen and ink, watercolours, painted glass and mirrors, pastels, acrylics and oils. Lisa has also worked with photography and digital art media and animation. In recent years she has returned to work in oils, joined with enamel on copper and the use of gold and other metal foils and in mixed media pieces. Often the ground for the Surf paintings are gold leaf to create unexpected sparkle. |

Wipeout
2007 Oil on Canvas 90x90cm |
|
The view when it all goes wrong, as the wave thunders over your head, and you struggle back to sunlight and air and life and tha next wave. |
Riding Giants
2007 Oil on Canvas 90x90cm |
|
The immense beauty and power of really huge waves is neither tamed nor diminished by the people who ride them. A day spent on the coast in a storm should not only chill the bone but warm the heart at the thought of the wonderfully senseless achievement of the men who take on the elements for joy. |
Surf
2006 90x90cm |
|
Early autumn afternoon at Rossnowlagh beach, the blue sky and fine sunshine and regular rollers that have come all the way from Boston, to crash on the sand in even ranks and hypnotise the gulls amid the dunes with rolling sussuration. In time all perception of depth dissappears and all becomes a pattern of harmonic rhythm. |
And She Was
2005 Oil on Gold Leaf on Canvas 90x90 |
|
Inspired by a spiritual journey in Egypt the poignant emotion of joy and pain in the creativity of the feminine. |
Cosmic Pear
2001 oil and mixed media 60x40cm |
|
One afternoon the sunlight on the garden caught a blushing D'Anjou against the blue sky and it became for an instant a Mythical fruit sailing through space. I was paintimg a series of suns at the time, and somehow the next canvas went pear shaped, in a most pleasing fashion. |
Pool Boy
2008 Oil on Canvas 80x80 |
|
A painting of a beautiful naked young man diving into a clear blue pool. Some things you just never tire of. |
Fig tree at midday
2009 Oil on Canvas 90x90 |
|
The view of the sun through my favourite fig tree in the garden at Mas de Cadignac in the South of France. |
Autum Decay
2006 Pen and Ink 300x600 |
|
Abstract pen and ink inspired by the decomposition in Autumn. |
