| This painting is already sold. I was inspired by the mystique and the idealized beauty of the classical nudes of the Renaissance. This nude has the soft, rounded forms and the feminine pose that characterized the nudes of the past but the abstraction and the vibrant colors bring her into contemporary world. She almost appears to be "stepping" from the past into the present - the painting, when viewed in person, has a sort of 3-dimensional effect. This painting expresses emotions and thoughts of a young girl - I created it on a very deep canvas with sides painted white which gives the painting a sculptural and very edgy look. It looks very contemporary and striking. The painting is textured, with the white canvas showing through in places. It seems to be coming towards you when it hangs on a wall because of the depth of the canvas. The colors include rich and vibrant reds, blues and violets as well as beautiful greys. |

This painting has been sold. I was thinking of Picasso when I created this painting and there is something about this blue nude that is Picasso-like - you get that kind of feeling of raw strength, passion and intensity from this painting.
It is a very striking painting/drawing. The ink line drawing is done with Chinese ink brush and is spontaneous and very expressive. The acrylic paint is bright and vibrant and gives the painting texture. The heavy weight paper shows through in many places providing additional texture and interest. |

Looking at this nude you feel a strong sense of movement and drama as well as a certain contemplative stillness. There is a hint of Cubism and Art Deco. The abstract woman is very feminine and sexy yet seems to be unaware of it and lost in her own thoughts. I layered the colors and used both cool and warm tones of purples, blues, cobalts, violets and greens that give a lot of depth to the painting when you view it in person.

Mysterious woman playing with her cards, perhaps somewhere in a Las Vegas casino. Might be pondering luck and chance or maybe she is just trying to seduce someone across from her. When I go to Las Vegas I usually stay at the Bellagio hotel and I like to watch people playing blackjack, poker and baccarat - interesting atmosphere and feeling, so different from normal life - an escape.
