Mitch Messmore was born in Upstate New York, in the 1970's. Mitch's work was greatly influenced by the colapse of an industrial boom town and the economic depression it left behind. Through many hard times and much effort Mr. Messmore has helped to reverse this trend and bring a new hope into the region through art. |

My photographs are mainly based on my dreams. The vocabulary in my work references different cultures, history, nature, religion, architecture, and landscapes. My photographic process consists of layering multiple images, and manipulating the negative itself by drawing on or scratching into it, to achieve the desired effect in the darkroom. I always know what I want to achieve, but the finished work always takes a life of its own and goes far beyond my greatest expectations. |
