Visual art / painting
Styles: abstract / hard-edge / geometric / minimal
Project: time and space
The Timelines Series (2009) addresses the multiplicity of dimensional time and space. (no digital images available yet)
The Abacus Series (2008) relates to time, physics, and the increasing rate of climate change. As a result, the work explores the transitory nature of various seen and unseen states. The appearance of stasis does not necessarily indicate stasis. The work focuses on the iconography of the abacus as a counting device, as well as the elusive green ray as a time marker, a solar phenomenon that appears as instantaneous as a camera flash registering an event horizon. (digital images 1-4)
The Subdivisions Series (2007) explores the issues of open space, land use planning and environmental impact. As a result, the work exposes the push/pull dynamic of consumption patterns between public and private space by using the iconography of the abacus. The work focuses on the subdivisions of the abacus, as well as the consumption patterns within the various subdivisions of land, air, and water. (digital images 5-10)
