| Two works from Reflections of London were recently displayed in Peter Jones main window together with original works by such prominent British artists as Damien Hirst, Boo Ritson and sculptor Nicola Hicks, where they were described as "The Cream of British Art". Reflections of London (Landmarks) are currently displayed in Franco's restaurant, St James's. Some of the images "reflect" the magnificent buildings in Jermyn Street, where Franco's is. Neil's fashion range canvases decorate Patisserie Valerie in Brompton Road, SW7. Recent solo exhibitions: - "DepARTure" - The Arts Club, Mayfair: paintings, sculptures and photography - November 2007; - "New Dimension: Fashion and Landmarks" - one month photography exhibition at The Burlington Club, Mayfair - February 2008; - "The Russian Reception" photography display in Canning House, Belgrave Square - March 2008. - "The Role of Photography in Contemporary Interior Design" presentation by Jane Arte Watt (BIDA, JAG Contemporary Design) at Franco's, Jermyn Street - based on Neil's photography display at the restaurant. The show was accompanied by fine wine-tasting: 40 varieties of selected international rose wines - April 2008. "The works of Neil Lawson-Baker, "Reflections" that we see today in these interiors explore the process of mystification of London images, where familiar spaces aquare surreal qualities. The artist suggests an alternative point of view to the familiar cityscape. In fact one might not recognize straight away the turns of the very street that has been in Vogue for centuries - Jermyn Street - yes, the one we are now in. These photos are yet another reminder how art and art photography can transform interior space. In fact what could be more welcoming than to bring the mystified images of the city inside? Would they update and transform the living space? Yes, definitely, they would follow a fashionable inside out trend, instantly bringing the contemporary look to your personal interior space." | Recently Neil Lawson-Baker has developed a technique of using window reflections. He is working on a series of photographs that will "reflect" the life of major international cities. He is planning to shoot Reflections of Paris, Zurich and New York in 2008. Current displays: Reflections of London (Landmarks) prints - Franco's restaurant in Jermyn Street, St. James's. Fashion range canvases - Patisserie Valerie in Brompton Road, SW7. |
