Patrick Lewis

About the Artist

Most of my work is produced in a very spontaneous way. I like to work for a few hours then leave the painting alone as soon as I feel it corresponds with what I am observing and it has developed a life of its own. I am interested in many types of painting and have tried various approaches in the past. However, I find the challenge of capturing the world I see around me to be the task to which I am repeatedly drawn. I am interested in seeing and capturing local colours and tones, in creating space on a flat surface using different colours, in capturing a scene before me at a particular moment, in how colours clash or complement each other and in how one’s personality is expressed through the creative process. I have been working in acrylics for some time as they are so convenient when painting outdoors. I am fascinated by the internet and the fact that people all over the world view my paintings.
