She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and also studied in Aix-en-Provence, France. It was in France that she first created abstracted reality performances using her body as a vehicle to communicate current social issues. Ms.Lee has taught drawing and sculpture at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania, and has taught art appreciation to disadvantaged youth and adult women. | About the Artist |
My art focus on issues of identity and status. My most recent performances have focused on changing and challenging society’s perception of human trafficking and mail-order brides. These performances create an abstracted reality where I use my body as a vehicle to communicate current social issues.
One of the probing questions surrounding my art is the concept of individual choice? Are our choices really free? How does our community, our family and culture influence our choices? Do we choose to be gay? Do we choose to be prostitutes? Do we choose to be abused? Who is the victim and who is perpetrator? |
