Romy Nardi

About the Artist

What’s the human being and what’s the woman?..In the Romy Nardi’s work, every detail, each gesture and each face, express the mustery of a humanity not yet scanned, so, they become metaphor of interior femininity. In her works the narrative aspect assumes a soul value, almost romantic and becomes the symbol of a fusion between art and life allowing the observer
to approach what the art wants to tell him: her remembers, her ghosts, her otherself lost in some corner of the planet. The metaphor of individual –full of misterious charm- that never changes the skin and never acquires a definite personality. The double . The other EGO of oneself,
Which it isn’t necessary to become reconcilid with.
From this point of view, the Nardi route wants to put stress on human nature: A universe where coexist, at all times and in virtual manner, two identities, two beings, completely different each other, although they are complemental. They are models of the “alter ego”, of the twisted interior, moving towards a balance and, perhaps, it’s impossible to reach it in a definitive way and able to suggest the observer an elementary, univocal reality. Viceversa, it’s ambiguous.
Such peculiarities produced works such as the “Double feminine”, “Senses”, “Vortex”. These latest tissues seem to be the last speech she is making on the feminie universe,on the contemporaneous woman image, out of her elements; appearing frivolous, impulsive, delicate or strongwilled, fragile or masculine.
A nature continuously changing in accordance with mask that she is compelled to wear in this life and she brings forth on the scenery crisscrossing the images, sensations and shade colours with lack of referent spaces, that are able to make loosing bodly and certainty.
If it is true that art was born to satisfy the life demands, Romy Nardi voluntary chose to suggest open stories inviting the observer to make conjecture on the painted matter.
She raises herself as a model with irony skidding between personal references and real sizes.
Every painting, especially those one produced with a kind of collage, covered of acid colours and almost pop, show us all details of the refined dialogue with herself and her emotions, involving her face.
The atmosphere burden with abstraction and autoexhibition, fantasy and pleasure ,actualizing in a passional, multishape figuration, to celebrate woman with the intension of thinking about her existential condition, revealing dynamics and subjects of her exasperate sensibility.

Education and biography
She was born in Sant’Antimo, a small town near Naples, on december 5th 1961. Romy Nardi, since she was child, shows an irresistible appeal by colors and drawing universe.
In order to encourage her natural predisposition about art, she enters the “artistic high school” in Aversa city, where she gets diploma, with worth, in 1980.

She attended first Silvio Bicchi painting school, in Rome, where she moved to, then the interior designer course.
In 1983 she worked at Bulgari workshop as engraver of precious stones. After just a personal parenthesis, she approched art world attending, from 1999 to 2004, nude free school, in Naples at Fine Arts Accademy, directed by Roberto Donadelli and Ernesto Pugliese.

Since then, her artistic career was continously ascendant. In 2000 and 2001 she took part in several collective exhibitions:
at Five Arts Accademy, edit by professor Roberto Donatelli; in march 2001 in Giugliano city, at publishing house Esquela Edition and still in december, in Naples, at Evaluna Cultural Association; in 2002, in Naples municipal garden, at Casina del Boschetto, then in Caserta,in the sphere of the 14th “Porticato Gaetano” review; in may 2003, in Ercolano city, during the Ercolaneum, fire earth between earth and sea; in july 2003 in Naples, at publishing house Intramoenia. During “March Woman 2003” her painting “Sophie” was prize winner and it was chosen as front view of “women stories” book..

Meanwhile her notoriety gets out of national boundaries.
In 2005 she exhibits her work “Horror Perpetual” in Amsterdam at HIPE Gallery where it was bought from. So she decides to produce her first personal exhibitions in Sant’Antimo, at historic down town, the workshop “Art’è (It’s Art)”, where she exhibits all her works, both painting and clothes.
In april 2006, during 3th edition of literary prize History into drawer, Romy exhibits her paintings at Ali Association in Villaricca city . In may 2006, Evaluna bookstore, guests her personal exhibition “Woman interstice”.
