| About the Artist |
AARON SCHUMAN is an American photographer, editor, lecturer and critic, currently based in the United Kingdom. He received a B.F.A. in Photography and History of Art from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1999, and an M.A. in Humanities and Cultural Studies, from the University of London’s London Consortium in 2003. Aaron has exhibited his photographic work internationally, and has been featured in publications such as Aperture, ArtReview, Modern Painters, HotShoe, Creative Review, The Face, Bust, World Pulse, DayFour, aRude, Brill’s Content, the RIBA Journal, The Guardian, and The Sunday Times. In 2004, he received a GSE grant from Rotary International to photograph in Karnataka, India, and in 2002, he was one of six photographers to be shortlisted for The Times Young Photographer of the Year Award. Aaron is on the director's board of the UK-based photography organization, PhotoDebut (photodebut.org), and is a member of the international photography collective, Young Photographers United (ypu.org). He is also a Senior Lecturer in Photography at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth (AIB) and the University of Brighton, and is the founder, director and editor of the online photography magazine, SeeSaw (www.seesawmagazine.com). |
