I was born just a year before my country got its independence - in 1946 in India. As I grew, so did my country. I have seen it rise from a dusty, sleepy country to a major player in the world market. I also spent more than a decade as a radio officer in the merchant navy and had the opportunity to travel the world.
All this has shaped my view of the world and I feel I am better for it. My paintings incorporate the diversity I have experienced during my life.

Adventurer, teacher, landscapist...or all of these?
As an artist I have no formal training and am entirely self taught. I do not adopt a single style of art. My work reflects touches of abstract, nature studies, charcoal sketches, still life, pointillism, impressionism and some spiritual overtones.
My prime motivation is to share and evoke creativity in everyone, especially children. |

Anima Animus
2004 60x120 |
|
The Anima is the female soul image of a man. The Animus is the male soul image of a woman. Simply it means that a man has some characteristics of a woman like kindness, tenderness, emotion etc. This is not the bad thing to have in a male but in fact it is necessary to understand a woman better. It makes a person complete with one's Anima/Animus; he/she is a well-balanced human being.
Carl Gustav Jung a great psychoanalyst said that every human being has some Archetype within oneself. They are the "Shadows", "Anima", "Animus" and "Child".
The shadow projects our dark side and we tend to see more in others. We see the shadow everywhere especially in the image of our religion, fear, anxiety, frustration Etc. The child Archetype is a pattern related to the hope and promise for new beginnings, the spirit of adventure and curiosity. |
As A Man Thinketh
2004 120x120 |
|
Whatever maybe the conflicts and doubts within us, whatever maybe our way of life – we all finally turn to our Creator and raise our hands either in praise or to deliver us with His blessings or for our desires to be fulfilled. |
Cloning
2004 92.5x92.5 |
|
The world stage is filled with the sounds of the cloning debate - is it ethical, is it good for science. The painting depicts the complexities of the different sides of the debate. |
In Harmony

The woman is like a butterfly, beautiful, caring and always sharing as it moves from flowers to flowers. Water: Easy flowing soft, cools and quenches the thirst of tired and thirsty travelers. She is self-adjusting and provides comfort to everyone. The red paintwork near the neck shows that she is always used abused and not cared for. She is a mother, sister, friend, lover, wife... the many roles, which she lives with but not, appreciated. Smoothness of lines and easy flowing of different colours are the other goodness of a woman. A woman is the most exhausted and multi tasking person in the world. As a little child she is cute, charming and many other goodies. But as she grows up, suddenly she finds herself in a different world. The world that is demanding and forever looking up to her. She becomes a mother, who is caring, loving, a guide, a pacifier, caretaker and much more. |
Serendipity

From an admirer: This is one of my favorite paintings from your collection. As a woman sees this painting as a true interpretation of herself. How a woman is hidden her true feelings, thoughts at times due to cultural & societal norms.Excellent art work. |
Split Personality
2006 60x60 |
|
Even the dullest day becomes bright and is filled with joy when there is love between two people. The heart begins to sing and one feels as if floating in the air. Before each person lived safely behind four walls of their own ego. Each one loved that safety and peace. After falling in love these walls were pulled down, your ego was exposed but you loved the feelings that were overwhelming and filled with emotion of love for another. You enjoy going into the unknown with another soul. In the midst of love and romance we forget about our shadow, our past, our character, our own feelings. The shadow self is our real personality. It is there to show us where we are incomplete. It is only when we accept our shadow and become one with our shadow then we know what real love is! As long as you have fear, anger and selfish ego, we cannot truly love. Love is more then an emotion. Love brings joy, happiness and even in suffering love power continues. You must first give love to get love. This brings attachment and with attachment comes expectations and our focus changes towards personal feelings more than feelings for the one we love. Let anyone betray to love another and your love turn’s to hatred. Because the image of the one you love was shattered and since you loved that image all along its betrayal brings anger to you. At first there are tiny cracks and misunderstanding but as it piles up it becomes a huge mountain, which finally breaks down to tiny rivulet and brooks flowing away into darkness. |
Three Women
2004 92.5x92.5 |

Creating a harmonious balance with objects and shapes on the canvas of the mind - Balancing colours effectively and dramatically - Creating movement and vibrant texture - Bringing mental and spiritual relationship to the viewer. Through this visual mysterious process I hope to take you on a journey to the unknown and bind my soul with yours. |
