I find that abstract painting allows me to express my essence and energy; it is the silencing of logic and rationality through which the true spirit emerges. Rather than describing the works content I prefer to impress the viewer by challenging their senses, both tactile and visual. There is no specific narrative content. My intention is to create a mood or evoke an emotional response rather than to communicate a specific message or rational idea.
I sometimes consider this to be an alchemical process from which a raw material is transformed into something more precious. It is in itself a physical process of energy transformed into the finished work. The different colored pigments are layered on each other; the movement of the patterns formed creates a composition in which each layer both conceals and reveals what lies beneath.
