About the Artist

My work is inspired by my rather alarming fascination with the 1960's and 1970's. My focus is not so much on the people of the era but the design of clothing, crockery and furniture the everyday domestic objects that people used. In my work I attempt to create and document repeat patterns.
Patterns are everywhere we are surrounded by them. I hope that by highlighting the lovely pattern from a vintage tie I can bring it to the attention of the viewer. An item or object which has been forgotten or overlooked. Many of my found 70's relics have been bought in charity shops. It breaks my heart to think something so perfectly beautiful would have been in effect thrown away. I have taken on the role of a collector and I enjoy gathering and documenting these relics from a bygone era. By using the object itself or the pattern from it I am sharing these objects with everyone.
I create photos full of colour and pattern which I hope will stimulate the eye. I have done various things with my precious 70's objects.
In my attemp to create my ideal living environment full to the brim with pattern.I have arranged crockery in a kitchen and projected a reclaimed pattern on to the scene. This is my ideal kitchen a space i would love to live in.
I orchestrated a performance of a friend, Bridget Deevy's story, Madeline and Paul, from which I have created a series of 12 images. These images tell the story of a couple in a toxic relationship. A friend upon glimpsing one of the photos asked me if it was a picture of my parents back in the day it was the ultimate compliment!!
I used to wish that I had been born in the late 50's so I could have lived and breathed in my precious sixties and seventies but now I much prefer my role as a collector, treasurer, and promoter of the era.
