Vilmantas Marcinkevicius

About the Artist

"Vilmantas Marcinkevičius is one of the most famous and memorable Lithuanian expressionists. Vivid colors expressionally flow, splash, spurt, wander and cover the canvas. Colors, plastic lines, themes give themselves to rage, ceremonies of Dionis, orgies of Caligula, insanity of Sodom and Gomorrah. There is no civilization, rules and rational mind. Only irrational painter rules the themes. Artworks of Vilmantas astonish: spontaneous power of gesture, huge sizes of canvases, impudent colors, ironical and insolent themes. " (extract from article of Lithuanian culture journal 7 meno dienos)
