My interest in travel comes from being born a small town in the south, Whiteville, North Carolina, January17, 1943. As I grew up there, I was always curious about the outside world and had a great desire to explore. Travels have taken me to Europe, Russia, the Caribbean and Mexico. I have been a visiting artist in Cortona, Italy, Wexford, Ireland and Barbados, West Indies. I have had artist's residencies at The Millay Colony for the Arts, Austerlitz, NY, 1999, The Cill Rialaig Project, Ballinskelligs, Ireland, 2005 and at the Emily Harvey Foundation Venice, Italy, 2008, 2008 & 2010.

| About the Artist |
I am drawn to working on an intimate scale on paper. My paintings are primarily abstract with intense color, often achieved through successive layers of translucent glazes. I use waterbased media. Early Influences were Indian and Persian miniature paintings. Vermeer is an important artist to me, as well as the New York School painters, Paul Klee, and Howard Hodgkins. Travel has had an influence on my paintings, particularly the Yucatan, Ireland and Venice. |
