Subject matter includes portraits, seascapes, beach scenes, landscapes, still life, and historical structures. Essentially a realist with a few abstracts for variety. His book "Our Brandywine: An Artist's View of His Brandywine Valley Home" was published in 2004.

This was an early-American light house built one miles from the Atlantic Ocean in Henlopen, Delaware at the entrance to the Delaware River. As the land receded, the light fell into the sea in 1926. (Painted from a black and white photograph.) |
Chad House Kitchen II

This 18th-century kitchen belonged to John Chad who operated the ferry across the Brandywine River in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. The Battle of Brandywine was fought near the ford on September 11, 1777. |

| Education and biography |
| J.R. earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from West Virginia University. Studied the adhesion, rheology, and optical properties of paint during his career as a DuPont Research Fellow. |
