Other Worlds
1987 Oil 22.86 x 30.48cm |
|
"Other Worlds" at the Vanderbilt Planetarium till the end of June, Centerport, NY. "Lift Off" reviewed by Elise Pearlman - The Times of Northport, Space art exhibit debuts at the Planetarium. Manhattan artist Elissa Dorfman is known internationally for her oils and watercolors executed in "an abstract realistic and figurative style." In Other Worlds, her use of orange masterfully conveys the forbidding aura of alien territory. |
Forest.com
1984 Oil, computer tapes, sticks, fur 45.72x60.96cm |
|
Computer tapes are on this painting. At another time, all the statistics of every living matter in the forest were on computer tapes. Sticks and oil represents the forest, fur animals, birds. Different colors for the changing of the seasons. |
Blue Computer Landscape
2000 Oil 119.38 x 149.86cm |
|
Shapes were drawn on the computer then printed out. Copied and painted onto the canvas. |
Grape Hyacinth
1995 Oil 152.40 x 121.92cm |
|
Painted by looking at the plant Grape Hyacinth. This plant was so alive growing all over the place. That is why I painted it all over the canvas.

Landscape C
1984 Oil 91.44 x 101.6cm |

The Party
1985 Oil 172 x 147.32cm |
|
Two couples expanded and having a great time on a boat. Drinking, a discussion, breathing in the clean air. The snow covered mountains could be in Alaska, maybe the meltdown of the mountains represents the meltdown of the two couples. |
The Mannequin
1976 Oil 101.60 x 86.30cm |
|
In the early 1970's, I use to look and sketch the mannequins in the windows of the department stores on Fifth Avenue. This was to get the look and feel of the mannequins. "The Mannequin" exhibited at the Collectors Gallery 1979. |
Beginning of Expansionism
1971 Oil 71.12 x 50.80cm |
|
From the early 1970's I developed my own style that I called Expansionism--everything I sense I expand (that certain something, hunch, instinct, thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs). The inner dynamics (the inner world) of the subject expand beyond its outward appearance, and into the environment (divine matrix, the field, nature's mind, mind of god, quantum hologram). Two places science got it wrong.
1. The space we believe is empty is really not. It is full of a living material, pulsating essence.
2. We may experience inside of our bodies that influence the world beyond through the conduit in this space.
