Thomas Hodges

About the Artist

I work exclusively with the digital medium, and have done so since 2000, at which time my focus switched to photographic art. I am inspired by female beauty, particulary Asians, having lived in the Far east for more than half of my life.

I like to work in natural surroundings (away from the studio), using natural light and environment. I often work at two extremes; either low light and long exposures to capture a natural fluidity within the image, or using extreme light and wide exposures to produce a high-definition surreal type image. My images are created "in the lens", with post processing limited to basic correction only. No Photoshop retouching or filters, despite the impression that the image may portray.

In December 2006, I founded a new art movement which I have defined as "Imaginism", an art movement dedicated to all artists whose work is of an "Imaginistic" style.

My photographic art has caught the eye of many collectors, and I have works in many private and public collections world-wide.

Education and biography
Educated in the UK, and later in Continental Europe. I worked for many years as an investment banker with photography very much as my secondary career. In 2000 however I left the banking world and dedicated myself full-time to producing photographic art. I am primarily a self-taught artist, having first picked-up a camera at around the age of 8 (my father having been a very keen photographer). Since then, I have never really put it down ! I guess my artistic streak dates back to about the the same time.

My efforts have been rewarded, having won a "Nominee Award" in the 2006 Back and White Spider Awards, and a further 4 Nominee Awards in 2007 awards. Additionally, I have also won "Nominee Awards" in both the 2006 & 2007 International Color Awards (two of the world's most prestigious photographic competitions). I am published in "The World's Greatest Black and White Photography, Vol. 1" and the "Photography Masters Cup Yearbook 2008". During these past 7 years I have also exhibited extensively, my latest exhibition being in Saint Mark's, Venice, Italy.

Future shows
Currently organising my exhibitions for 2009, which will be held at various international locations, and will coincide with the publication of my first 2 books. Full details will be announced in due course.
