Born in Buckinghamshire, England in 1970 I have always been an artist! I moved to London when I finished my Foundation Course to study art at the University of Westminster, spent a few more years in London and then moved to the Sussex coast, where I still live.
I co-founded the Sussex-based Red Hen Artists about 11 years ago and regularly exhibit with/organise exhibitions for this group.

| About the Artist |
My artwork is inspired by my love of landscape, nature, travel, mythological tales, folkore and history, themes which reoccur throughout my work. I studied illustration and narrative painting at university and this has strongly influenced my work - I like each piece to tell a story - if you look closely at most of my work there are significant little details here and there. I love colour and light. I paint in acrylic and/or oils combined with metal leaf, powders and glitter; watercolour, mixed media, work in mosaic and am also a photographer.
Working in the fine art and graphic supplies trade gave me the opportunity to try just about every art material ever invented, not to mention on the quiet days to read every book on art and art materials and techniques in the shop, consequently my work takes many forms and styles although the themes above and love of bold colour and contrast run thorough just about everything I do.
My painting & illustration work is in private collections in the UK, Sweden and Spain.
I also design and make sets, props and costumes for theatre and carnival, do occassional applique work, make handmade books and work as a graphic designer. |
