About the Artist

The content of my work is concerned with issues of fragility, vulnerability and isolation. The artwork is fuelled by ensuing anxieties that arise from my experiences involving hostile social situations. The resulting pieces are realized through the use of altered objects which are often feminine in nature.
In recent years I have worked as a community artist on several outreach projects one of which received an N.I.M.H.E award for positive practice
I have also been involved (as both an artist and a researcher) with fellow contemporary artist Guy Tarrant with his touring exhibition ‘God Save The Pupils’

No Mates

2006
School Shirts

These shirts represent end of school celebrations; during which secondary school pupils graffiti each others clothes in good luck messages. The addition of a blank shirt signals issues of bullying and Isolation. This work forms part of 'God Save The Pupils' an exhibition that exposes the sub-culture of School children.

In Every Imaginable Way

2006
stiletto marks on paper

The stiletto indentations can only be seen when viewed closely. This is designed to imply veiled feminine brutality.

Fish Out Of Water

2005
Shopping Trolley

This public sculpture is concerned with fragility and vulnerability; how things decay and break down. This applies to an object in the process of change such as a rusting shopping trolley, as the shopping trolley corrodes its meaning changes. Everything that appears strong and robust will eventually break down decay and die.

Victims

2006
Altered Shoes

This collection of shoes shows elements of varied and repeated physical/mental abuses

Chained

2004
Industrial chain found/altered personal objects

Although jewellry involves feminine beauty, chains imply restraint and burden.

Vulnerable

2005
IUD Necklace

This piece of jewellery is designed to elevate and give reverence to the significant role of a small seemingly insignificant piece of plastic and metal.

Hard As Nails

2006
Altered Objects / Clear Resin Cast

2006
Fake Vivienne Westwood necklace / Label

I want to be known as someone who lives in a five bedroom house
