Kunstkonzept: auch wenn das Laufrad nicht in seiner vertikalen-technischen Lage präsentiert ist, soll das angedeutete Wasser den Prozess zeigen:Verikal- Wasser stürzt in die Tiefe und treibt das Laufrad an. Horizontal der Fluss, Wasserströme verbindet sich wieder und fliesst weiter und weist gleichzeitig auf den unmittelbar dahinter fliessenden Fluss und die Firma hin. Den Ausschlag zum Auftrag gab hier der Vergleich von Laufrad mit Kunst und/ oder ohne...

Traveling by foot over the imaginary equatorial line in the village of Bonjol in Indonesia inspired me to create an image of the equator through the surrounding fields. I used a red rope which contrasted superbly with the bright greens of the landscape to create this image through a rice field, over a river and through a small palm forest. That evening I soaked the rope in petroleum and set it afire- a blazing equatorial line; an event that drew a crowd of villagers and was enjoyed by everyone.
Aequator-Aktionskunst
Das bewusste Ueberschreiten des Aequators in Bonjol (Indonesien) inspirierte mich zu der Aktion .Ich verl�ngerte die auf der Straße eingezeichnete �quatorlinie mit einer roten Schnur und zog so durch die angrenzende Landschaft. Ich teilte so ein nahes Gebaeude, Felder, Fluesse, Palmenwaeldchen...Die rote Schnur stellte einen guten Kontrast zu der meist gruenen Landschaft dar. In der Nacht wurde dann unter Beteiligung des Dorfes die Schnur in Benzin getraenkt und angezuendet, der Aequator brannte! |

kinetic steel skulpture Location: Hohenschönhausen Park, Berlin (Germany). Was commissioned by the city of Berlin. I was inspired by this highly frequented city park in a newly developed area of Berlin (in the Prerower-Platz neighborhood, with approximately 100,000 residents), to create a sculpture that would be set in motion by the wind. Details like the peepholes in the body of the Juggler and the 7 various fantasy turning elements offer a constantly changing view of the sculpture. The sculpture is maintenance free due to the sealed ball bearing system that swims in oil.

Anmerkungen: Auftraggeber war die Stadt Berlin. Der häufig besuchte Park in diesem neuen Stadtteil (Wohnsiedlung Prerower-Platz, ca. 100 000 Einwohner), veranlaßte mich, eine sich durch Wind ständig verändernde Skulptur zu kreieren. Zu entdeckende Details wie Kucklöcher im Körper des Jongleurs = Panker, und 7 verschiedene Fantasie Drehelemente bieten immer wieder neue Blickwinkel. Durch abgekapselte in Öl schwimmende Lager ist die Skulptur wartungsfrei. |
