Manuela J Paz

About the Artist

Emerging artist, Manuela Paz, is a graduate from the School of Visual Arts photography program in New York. Her photographs of female protagonists gesturing within the frame of a mirror reveal a contemporary psychological exploration while subtly invoking conventions of Renaissance portraiture. The work evokes a melancholy state of suspension with subtle accents and hesitations that suggest ambiguous narratives.

Manuela Paz has been exhibiting her work locally in and around the New York area in group shows since 2002 and had her first solo show August of 2006 at Invisible, a new contemporary art space on Orchard Street. Her work can be found on several online slide libraries including those of White Columns, Artists Space, and Re-title.
