Cecile Brunswick

About the Artist

I love color and was always intrigued by the way my mother selected and matched her wardrobe. French painters used fresh vivid colors which attracted me.
My abstract paintings are infused with the colors, light, languages and sounds of other cultures. Triips to Morocco, and Mexico, for instance changed my palette and the way I paint. I try to convey, in an abstract way the warmth and friendliness I encountered in my travels.

Sidetracked

2009
oil on Linen Canvas
61,5 cm x 91.5 cm

Sidetracked
I had an idea for an abstract painting, chose my colors and began to paint. The painting, however, led me into a totally different direction and so I entitled it "Sidetracked". It is a colorful composition using the primary colors.

Education and biography
I attended the High School of Music & Art, received a Bachelor's Degree at Queens College, NYC., and earned an MIA at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. I thought I'd become a diplomat instead my paintings have become ambassadors.
I've had solo shows at Franklin 54 Gallery in NYC, Paul Mellon Art Center, Wallingford, Ct., the Broome Street Gallery, NYC, French Institute Alliance Francaise. Group shows iinclude the Hudson River Museum, Bolognafiere touring show seen in Japanese museums, and recently in City Without Walls' Metro show in Newark, NJ.
Gallery 8 Fashion Center Art Festival juried exhibit included my oil painting in October 2009.

Future shows
I was juried into and received a scholarship for the ART TORONTO PROJECT, an art festival taking place from March 4 - 7th in 20010 in Canada.
