I was born in Antwerp, Belgium into a very musical family, and we moved to New York City just before the outbreak of World War II.
I attended a specialized High School (Music & Art) as a voice major but admired the abstract work of the art students.
After getting a degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, I studied photography and worked many years as a commercial and fine art photographer before eventually studying at the Art Students League and settling down to using
brushes and paint instead of a camera.

| About the Artist |
I love color and was always intrigued by the way my mother selected and matched her wardrobe. French painters used fresh vivid colors which attracted me.
My abstract paintings are infused with the colors, light, languages and sounds of other cultures. Triips to Morocco, and Mexico, for instance changed my palette and the way I paint. I try to convey, in an abstract way the warmth and friendliness I encountered in my travels. |
