| Judith Joseph | |
Judith Joseph (b. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A. 1956) is a Chicago-area painter, calligrapher and educator. She has created hundreds of commissioned works for individuals and public institutions, and her specialty is the Ketubah (Hebrew illuminated marriage contract, an illustrated calligraphic work used in Jewish weddings). In addition to her painting and illustration commissions, she creates and exhibits paintings in oil, egg tempera and watercolor, and painted works on glass. Her work has been recognized by the Illinois Arts Council with Artist's Fellowship Awards in 1998 and 2004. |

My work is characterized by brilliant colors and intense detail. My specialties are botanical and figurative imagery, calligraphy, and story-telling. Art lets me explore and express the things I love: nature, music, literature, history, languages and spirituality. I like to combine ideas and story with beautiful forms, in the hopes that my work can be appreciated on an intellectual level as well as a sensual one. |
