Artist Statement:

The main theme of my work has always been the creation of surface and the experimentation and manipulation of paint and materials. I often include recycled materials within my paintings (such as magazine cuttings and aluminium) and usually work heavily back into the layers I construct to create a worn, eroded feel. By combining linear patterns with these rugged surfaces I can create the illusion of space. I like the idea that a painting can act as an escape. I use images purely as a tool to draw the viewer into these spaces and trigger their imaginations.
I see my paintings as open works; they let the outside in by encouraging the viewer to draw their own individual conclusions.
