Australian Artist Born 1948
Parkes NSW. Lives in Queensland.
 |
| |
| About the Artist |
Contemporary Installation, utilising a range of media: sound, projections, constructions etc. Conceptual and political in intent.
curators statement on Empty room with steps and grid, S/he Feminist Trajectories 1993
"Bodies looking at art, become bodies negotiating architectural space. rather than expect particular bodies, he, Ross Barber politicizes such an expectation. Rather than ordering bodies, he creates disorder for them to negotiate.Rather than provide solid ground, he leads us to question who makes the ground on which we situate ourselves on, why and for whom."

Sample scene from video projection and sound installation work in progress, She is always.... A house with many rooms set up with props and paraphernalia of a stage or set. The viewer enters and triggers a range of projection and sound effects most typical the sound of a person, a woman in high heels, 'a fetish object' constantly moving away from the viewer leading into ...crossing borders of psycho/social gender and sexuality identities. Projected composite images (archetypal symbol the Anima) Film Noir style. |
