ENGLISH:
Memory is the juxtaposition of sequential layers of thought, each one capturing temporal fragments of an experience, reconstructing it like the multiple facets of a kaleidoscope, mutating, unique.
Strati Luminosi are tree-dimensional representations of memory: sequential layers of transparent and reflective glass, each one conveying partial elements of an image, an emotion, a thought, recreating through mixed media a visual representation of memory as the result of an optical complicity of color, texture and light, reflected, refracted.
All memories change with the passage of time. Likewise, Strati Luminosi are in constant mutation with the slightest of movements and the nature and direction of light, distorting perception and in turn creating new impressions.
ITALIANO:

ENGLISH:
Alejandro Capriles was born on 5 September 1955 in Monterey, California. He begins his formal art studies at an early age in Caracas, Venezuela where he is raised and lives until 1974 when he leaves for Oxford, UK and on to Los Angeles, California in 1976 to pursue his degrees in landscape architecture and ornamental horticulture.
Soon after his transfer to Florence, Italy in the summer of 2002, a chance visit to Badia a Passigano, a Benedictine abbey in Chianti, plants the seed for his current works, which he calls Strati Luminosi. The impressions left by the polychrome lichen and moss on the stones of the abbey, combined with the unusual stained glass windows sow the idea that matures to its present state over a long period of experimentation.
He currently lives and works in Otricoli, in southern Umbria, Italy.
ITALIANO:
