Romantic Pop
Women, flowers, and nature -the seemingly unrelated objects of my attention for more than twenty-five years of painting. The seamless flow of one beautiful thing into another beautiful thing in a continuum that makes perfect sense to me.
Woman as ethereal goddess, flowers as iconic subjects, and paintings of insects and animals that have come from my direct experience of the natural world - although they might be rendered with the dreamlike qualities of the slumbering mind.
My life has always been about the visual. Quiet observation taught me what I needed to know about rendering my subjects as I understood them. That sense has only grown stronger over the years as I explore my inner reality and the workings of my imagination, combined with my
life experience. No grand ambition, just the need to be and do.
Fluid washes, and intense coloration with a surrealist feel are the hallmarks of my work. Abstractions of these subjects tell allegorical tales, and chart my path as an artist and a woman. My fundamental truth holds space for the creative process, and my passion for life is revealed in every brush stroke.
The journey continues, and I do not know where it will lead. I only know the imperative of putting paint to paper in this solitary pursuit to lend credence to the imagery of a soul's dance.

| About the Artist |
Judith has been painting and muraling for more than 28 years in private residences and public spaces. She served as the Membership Chair for the Orlando Chapter of The Women's Caucus for Art, helped to plan and hang numerous shows, and served on the committee to organize the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival. In addition, she taught at-risk teens, and worked as an Artist in Residence for one year in an elementary school where she painted murals with more than two hundred PK-5 students.
In 1993 one of Judith's paintings was presented to Hillary Rodham Clinton at President Clinton's first inauguration. In 2003 Judith painted a large mural at The National Zoo, and in 2008 Princess Cruise Line published a series of signed, limited edition prints from her work that are now offered for sale on their ships.
She continues her work as a muralist and painter in the DC area, and will consider both mural and painting commissions.

|
Callas inspired by a visit to Southern California and Mexico where I saw them everywhere, both plantings and featured in art. I fell in love with the leaves of the plants and the pristine quality of the flowers. It is interesting to me that they are thought of as a funeral flower here. I delight in them. |
The Dream
2007 Acrylic on Canvas with Gold Leaf 91.44 x 91.44 cm |
|
A wonderful dreamlike image with gold leaf squares. |
