I was born in Peteroborough in 1951 the 2nd eldest of 10 children, and I now live in Bingley West Yorkshire. I am married to Philip we have 3 grown up children and two grandsons whose work often feature in my studio space. I studied for my BA. Hons and My MA at Bradford College. I am a Painter, printer and photographer. At the moment the main stay of my work is the wonderful media of digital photography, and the exploration of the old method of pinhole photography. |

My photographic work explores movement and light. I love working with the effects of light and I am especially interested in the long exposures obtainable with the pinhole camera and the possiblities of being able to move around within the space being photographed, I am fascinated with the ghost like effects that can be captured. I construct cameras from domestic items such as the shoebox and a particular favourite is the cylindrical shaped gravy box. I like the idea of exploring domestic situations using cameras made from domestic items. I also enjoy the challenge of photographing the unusual and the abstract. The main stay of my work is observation. I am also very interested in paint I like the way oil paint can be moved around on the canvas, i aim to paint more this year. |

| I took this image on a long exposure with the pinhole camera made from the gravy box, I was able to change my position within the space to capture the movement envolved in doing sit ups. |

| I wanted to capture the light that was coming in through the window. I like the way the head is bathed in light, and I like the strength of the pattern in the skirt, it makes a good contrast with the plain background, and the softness of the light. |

| This is one of a series of images taken in the city. I am fascinated by the distortion created by the water running down the windows of the car, and the patterns that forms from the shapes and colours in the surrounding area outside the car. |

One Day In Mexico

| This photograph was taken whilst on a visit to mexico. I thought it was a beautiful sight and had been left wondering after a day of rain wether mexico had rainbows.
It was pure luck that we were in the right place at the right time. According to the local people it is a sign of a big change in the weather. |

| This is a portrait of my grandsons painted for their parents. I enjoyed painting it and feel that the brown suits they are shown wearing gave it a very Gilbert and George (of their early work) feel to it.This was very much a labour of love. |

| I was travelling in the car just as the day was coming to an end, the sky was pink in places. I liked the image of the windmill against the sky and the blurring of the trees
and bushes as we travelled by in the car. |

| This image was taken with digital pinhole camera. I was interesed to see what would happen by coverting a digital camera into a pinhole camera. The images are not as clear as when using film of paper, but the softer appearance works well with this image. |

| Digital pinhole image.
I am fascinated by the idea of the mask. I have also done a lot of research and work into the things we subject our bodies to in order to look good. Applying a cosmetic face mask is one way of giving ourselves a beauty treatment without harming our skins. |

| Pinhole image.
I used a long exposurewith the aim of capturing some of the movement on the treadmill, but what I find more interesting about this image is the capture of the shadow of the head, and the way the head on the figure has been almost blocked out. The beauty of pinhole imagery is that you are never quite sure what will happen. |

I also liked the contrast created by the shape and colour of the apples that had been abandoned in the road. |

I took this image with a pinhole camera made from a cylindrical shaped gravy box.
I like the distortion that has occured and by moving the figure out of the exposure half way through was able to obtain this nice ghost like effect. |

I was out and about enjoying the night life in Playa Carmen in Mexico. I always carry a camera of one kind or another with me. I came across the ferry terminal and liked the atmosphere and the relaxed air of the people waiting patiently for the last ferry home. I used my compact camera the results are that the image is not very sharp but looks painterly and it reminds me of some of the paintings of Edward Hopper. |

| I am working towards a solo photographic exhibition of pinhole images due to be shown March 2008 at South Square Gallery Bradford. I have also been invited to be part of 6 photographers exhibiting at Keighley Arts Factory in May 2008. |
